Born in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, it was on my father’s knees, at the age of three, that I learned to draw portraits of horses. I believe it was then that my interest in drawing emerged for the first time.
At nine years of age, I took my first course in painting (on easel) at the Institut des Arts du Saguenay (the Saguenay Institute for the Arts), today the C.N.E. (Centre National d’Exposition de Jonquière). I continued my studies in fine arts at the Cégep (College) of Chicoutimi and completed a BA in teaching visual arts at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi (UQAC) in 1978. I also obtained a certificate in art history from the same institution.
Since the beginning of the 1980s, I have pursued many aspects of the visual arts. In addition to my painting, I have also worked as a commercial artist in graphic design and the decorative treatment of surfaces, including trompe-l’oeil.
I am a multi-disciplinary artist, working in drawing, painting, sculpture, computer graphics, installation, photography and the design of objects. In the 1990s, I created installations from pieces of recycled furniture, modifying their original appearance and giving them a second life.
I now devote myself entirely to painting – and teaching it at the Centre for the Arts and Culture in Chicoutimi (le Centre des Arts et de la Culture de Chicoutimi).
