Born in Montreal (1947), Louise Falstrault has been a resident of "La Petite-Nation" (Outaouais-Laurentides region) since 1969. A self-taught artist, she started painting at 12 years old when her father offered her a paint and brush set. In 1995, she decided to devote all her time to painting and created her own studio. Group exhibitions, solo exhibitions, and prizes soon followed.
She is actively promoting visual arts in her area and is a member of Créateurs de la Petite-Nation, a group of ten professional artists. In 2010, she was guest of honor at the symposium Gatineau Color in Canada’s capital region. She is represented by several galleries across Canada.
"I paint everything I like. Wind, water, mountain and forest all live inside me. My painting is a long journey into the depths of nature with some forays into the inhabited world. It enables me to go back to the landscape in complete freedom, to see its grandness, its peacefulness and its wild beauties."
The contrast and the intensity of the colours in Falstrault's oil paintings reveal, by the movement and the stoke of her brush or knife, all the mysteries of the wild forests, the flow of the rivers and the spirit of the streams. |
