Born in Lachine, Quebec, Martha Markowsky, an elected member of the Canadian Society of Artists, paints vibrant nostalgic urban landscapes of children at play in old neighbourhoods, the dark interior of bar room scenes, ladies in garden party settings, scenes of the Charlevoix landscape and many other themes.
In addition to her prolific painting, Markowsky also teaches classes in oils and acrylics and conducts workshops in the Charlevoix region.
Some of the associations she is affiliated with include Society of Canadian Artists, Le Cercle des Artistes, Peintres & Sculpteurs du Quebec, Visual Arts Ontario, Lachine Artists Association, Dorval Artists Association, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
Martha has had more than 20 solo exhibitions, is recipient of numerous awards and commissions from both public institutions and private collectors, her works are in collections across Canada, the U.S., and Europe. Her bioigraphy can be found in the Canadian Who's Who, the Biennal Guide to Canadian Artists.
